So Happy Together.

Triplet Mom and the girls

Well, the triplets are nearing 4 months old. SO many changes, and so many moments of blessing. As of late, the girls can be officially considered as "sleeping throught the night" even up to 11 hours. Of course Mommy and Daddy do have to take turns giving the girls their pacifiers on occasion. Let's just say there is a lot of elbowing going on in the wee hours of the night---"It's your turn Brad!" "No, it's your turn Stacey!"

During the day the girls eat about every 3 1/2 hours and spend the rest of the time napping intermittently and generally keeping Stacey on her toes. They have all weathered their first colds, except Olivia did develop and ear infection. :(
We look anxiously forward to their big day on Sunday evening Dec. 10 on which they will be baptized and welcomed into the community of believers at Caledonia CRC.

You're Invited!

Sweatsuit Sunday
Baptism is coming up! December 10th at 6:00p the girls are going to be baptized at our church! Spread the word to family and friends. It will be a joyous occasion, but of course mommy will be crying (tears of joy). There will be cake afterward, so that Fig the sweet tooth will attend! Ha!

Also, the girls got their 3 month pictures taken last week. A photographer came to our house and took them in the basement! They should be so cute. We get to see them in a week.

Oh, and I don't have another doctors appt. until Dec. 14 and I wanted to know what the girls weighed... So I stood on the scale with them. It appears that Olivia weighs 11 lbs. 12 oz. Evie weighs 13 lbs. and Sophie weighs 10lbs. 9 oz. She is still the peanut! Maybe if she didn't loaf so much! Grandpa Fig should have given her more Halloween candy!

More pictures to come later - When I get out to my sister's house

Growing by Leaps and Bounds

Do they look like they love each other?
The triplets are now 11 weeks old--almost 3 months!!

Each week has brought changes in the girls and in their routine. They are all smiling and starting to "coo." If you don't know what that means, basically they are starting to make little baby talk and it never fails to bring a tear to my eye. At the last Dr. appointment the girls weighed in and are getting pleasantly plump!

Olivia 9lbs. 6oz
Evie 10lbs.
Sophie 9lbs.

It is easy to tell the difference in weight when you hold the girls and see the difference in how they take their bottles. Evie, weighing the most, takes 4+ oz. in no time and burps efficiently. she still deals with reflux but has found some relief in sleeping in her carseat. This also gives Mommy, Daddy and Grandmas some extra zzzzzz's. Sophie has earned herself the nickname "Sopher the loafer" because she tends to loaf around when it is time to eat, not always interested in finishing the job. Olivia also has a will of her own and adorable big cheeks and chins. She often wakes in the night before feeding time and feels as if it is time to just not sleep. All three girls have had nights where they just need to cry it out before falling asleep. Just imagine it for a moment. :)

Here are some very recent photos.
Sophie cracking a smile
Evie, oh so cozy in her seat

2 Months Old!

The girls had their 2 month check up and first round of immunizations this past Friday (the 13th). They all received 4 shots. Sophie took it the best, she must be the tough one. Mommy was crying with the girls as they were getting their shots. Dad (I) found all the sadness humerous. (sorry)

They are:

Olivia - 9 lb. 0 oz.
Evie - 9 lb. 7 oz.
Sophie - 8 lb. 9 oz.

Hopefully auntie Chelle will add some pictures soon. (Keep bugging her because I'm not that computer savy)

3 Peas in a Pod

Last Saturday (Sep. 23) was Stacey's official due date for a 40 week pregnancy. It's amazing to think that the girls are already 6 weeks old and are changing every week. Some highlights from the last couple weeks include:
  • holding their heads up
  • drinking 3 oz. at each feeding
  • eating every 4 hours instead of every 3 during the overnight=more sleep for Mommy and Daddy.
  • Evie and Olivia have gastric reflux :( but are tolerating it well with a little Zantac and extra burping.
  • possibly? a smile or two for Grandma H. and Auntie Michelle--(that's our story and we're sticking to it)

One Month Old!!

No photos yet, but an update today on the girls' weights.

Olivia 6 lbs. 2 oz. 18 1/2"
Evie 6 lbs. 3.5 oz 18 3/4"
Sophie 5 lbs. 11oz. 19 1/4"

Had Stacey's been a "normal" pregnancy, she would be about week shy of her due date by now. The triplets are gaining weight each week and are now drinking 65 mL, which is between 2 and 3 fl. oz.

Stay tuned for more updates and photos---I promise :)

The Adventures of Olivia, Evie, & Sophie

Hello!

We triplets are now over 3 weeks old and have been eating, sleeping, pooping, and growing!

But that's not all, in the last 2 weeks, our daddy and mommy took us on a few new excursions. We took our first stroller ride through the neighborhood, enjoyed some "tummy time", and took a car ride out to Payne Lake on Labor Day. We attracted quite a crowd of gawkers out at the cottage and we didn't even get out of the Mini-Van!! After that, we were quite pooped (figuratively and literally) and it was time to get back to our normal routine.

We eat every three hours and try to sleep between feedings, but occasionally we must squawk and fuss. Mommy says the "honeymoon" period is almost over as we don't always want to go back to sleep or settle down right away after meals.

At the last weigh in (a week ago) we grew like weeds!
Olivia 5 lbs. 3.5 oz.
Evie 5 lbs. 3 oz.
Sophie 4 lbs. 12.5 oz.

Our favorite activities include: Baths from Daddy, nursing from Mommy, and all the hugs and love from Auntie Michelle (hmmm....I wonder who helped us write this)

Thank you again for all your prayers, meals, words of encouragement and love!

Olivia Comes Home!!

Brad and Stacey brought Olivia Kay home to join them on Wed. August 23. She finally decided to eat all of her bottle, 38mL (just over 1oz.) without the help of tube feeding. After being home for a couple days she joined her sisters in eating about 43mL at each feeding. Upon returning home Brad and Stacey gave Olivia a bath right away, she was getting a little stinky :)

This past Friday, they took the girls to the their appointment with the pediatrician, the first trip together as a family in the Mini-Van!

The girls weighed in at:
Olivia 4 lbs. 14 1/2oz. back to her birth weight
Evie 4 lbs. 15oz. weighed with a very full diaper :)
Sophie 4 lbs. 7 1/2oz. she came home at 4lbs 3oz, doing great!

The girls continue to eat every 3 hours around the clock. Stacey and Brad are able to get some rest with the dedicated help from family and friends.

A new personal record for Brad was reached this weekend--he slept in until 10am on a Saturday morning!!!! If you know Brad, this is quite unusual. :)

More photos and updates coming soon!!

Evie & Sophie come home!!

After a short time of training at the hospital, and an even shorter recovery time at home for Stacey - Two of the girls came home Saturday August 19!! They looked so tiny in the carseats. Sophie was too small to ride in the carseat, so we had to buy a "carbed" to take her home in. However, she is so long that her head hits the top!

The nusery was ready to go when they came home, so we layed them right down to sleep in their cribs. Oh how timy they looked in them!

We are having a great time as a new family, but we are also sad as Olivia isn't home with us yet. We prayerfully wait for her day to come home!

They're Here!!

Well the time finally arrived at 8:36 last night.

Olivia Kay - 4lbs 14 oz - 16.9" long
Evie Lyn - 4 lbs 8 oz - 17.3" long
Sophie Rae - 4lbs 4 oz - 18.5" long

They came into the world quite fast, I think. Stacey had been uncomfortable for about 24 hrs or so and the Resident had checked her at about 6:30 and she came back in at about 6:45 and asked if we wanted to have our babies tonight. They had us on the way down by 7:00, Stacey was in the O.R by 8:00, they made the cut about 8:30 and she was sewn up by 8:50. It all happened quite fast!
They are all doing stellar and so is Stacey.

We are requesting that anyone who would like to visit wait until Tuesday, and also to call first. Stacey should be coming home Wed or Thurs and the babies around the 25th (that's their guess right now)

Back to School?

I am sitting here watching T.V. and I notice all the back to school ads. It gives me a weird feeling. This is the first year in 22 years that I am not getting ready to go back to school. You see, I was always one of those kids who got excited about buying school supplies. That's probably why I became a teacher! Now I am going to be busy with three baby girls instead of setting up my classroom. Wow! What a change!

Sorry I haven't updated my blog in awhile. I haven't been feeling the greatest this week. I think it might be all the weight I'm carrying : )

The Girls are Ginormous!

The weights of the babies today are as follows:
In the light weight category... Baby A weighing in at 4 lbs. 9 oz.
In the heavy weight... Baby B has passed Baby C in weight, weighing in at 4 lbs. 12 oz.
Baby C is holding her own... weighing in at 4 lbs. 10 oz.

That's right folks, 14 lbs of baby!!!!! I don't walk anymore... I shuffle.
Come out girls! Come out! Times up!

Seven Weeks

I have been in the hospital for seven weeks now. As I look back at my time here I reflect:
  • You know, no matter how boring it gets here and how sore I get, it still beats my first trimester when I was horribly sick!
  • The summer of 2006 will always stay in my memory as "The Summer that Wasn't."
  • I have learned how many people care for me as they made the trek(s) up to visit me, sent me cards, sent email, or commented on my blog.
  • I am sick of wearing pajamas! However, I probably have more pajama days ahead of me!
  • No amount of uncomfortable days can stop me from doing whatever I can for my girls! (Even though I sometimes joke about doing jumping jacks in the bathroom to get them out)
Happy summer days!

I'm Officially Chapped!

I can't get my pictures to post on my blogsite anymore! I don't know what to do! I'm lost! I need to get it fixed before the girls come, but I am not the techy nerd you all might think. Does anyone have any advice?

I have now resorted to playing with a water-game toy to pass time. Yes, it's hours of fun! You know the kind... where you have to push a button to get rings around the posts. Ha! Mine is a hamburger that you have to stack the layers. Thanks, Rebecca!

I Was Free!!

My doctor let me out! I got to leave the hospital for lunch on Sunday! It was so nice, and I felt like a real person. I was confined to a wheelchair, or the booth in the restaurant (I had a 1/2" of space left), but it was wonderful! Mom, Dad, and Brad took me to O'Charleys. It was tasty! I got tired really fast, so we headed back to the hospital. However, it was Brad... not me... who took the nap!
